Weekend closings of 11th Street on VCU’s MCV campus will make way for renovation work

One block of 11^th Street – between Broad and Marshall streets – will be temporarily closed to traffic on the following five Saturdays: March 11; March 25; April 1; April 8; and April 15. The street will close as early as 6 a.m. on Saturdays and should re-open by Saturday evening. In some instances, the street may remain closed on Sundays.

The one-block portion of 11^th Street serves as one of the vehicular approaches to Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical College of Virginia Hospitals. The street closure is necessary in order to safely accommodate a crane that will be used for renovations to VCU’s Sanger Hall.

Signs marking an alternate route will detour Broad Street traffic onto Ninth Street for one block and then onto Marshall Street to 11^th Street.
