Results of the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs Public Policy Poll showing Virginians’ views on economic development and workforce development will be released at a news conference on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m.

The news conference will be held in the House Briefing Room of the General Assembly Building, 201 N. 9th St.

The public opinion poll, conducted by the Office of Public Policy Outreach at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Wilder School, surveyed 1,000 adults in all five regions of Virginia on their views on current and potential proposed policies related to economic development and workforce development in Virginia.

"Economic development and workforce development are important topics nationally as well as statewide, and they will certainly be at the forefront of this year's General Assembly session," said John Accordino, Ph.D., interim dean of the Wilder School. "As policymakers wrestle with these issues, it's critical that citizens' views be taken into account. This poll provides one means of doing that."

The poll’s questions were designed in conjunction with the office of Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Todd Haymore. Besides Haymore and Accordino, the news conference will include Robyn McDougle, Ph.D., faculty director of the Office of Public Policy Outreach and associate professor of criminal justice at the Wilder School.
