On April 28, for 24 hours, the entire VCU family will help transform Virginia Commonwealth University. That’s the time frame that marks the first VCU Giving Day, when the university community comes together to support the causes they're most passionate about at VCU.

“During our inaugural Giving Day, we will celebrate how we transform the community and world we share,” said Michael Rao, Ph.D., president of VCU and VCU Health. “Thousands of VCU alumni, faculty, staff, team members, students, family and friends across the globe are asked to imagine more for our students, patients, faculty, staff, caregivers, researchers and the university by making an investment in the future of VCU.”

Giving Day takes place during the third annual Philanthropy Week, April 25-29. The weeklong event celebrates the impact that alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students make through private gifts to the university.

For Giving Day, donations can be made from midnight to 11:59 p.m. April 28 at givingday.vcu.edu. Each college, school, many campus programs and the VCU Health System has priority funds that need critical support, and online challenges provide Giving Day participants with ways to increase the impact of their gift.

All gifts, no matter the amount, will transform the lives of students, patients, faculty members and the communities VCU serves.
